Why choose 16 gauge mesh?
Our 16 gauge Italian galvanised wire mesh uses stronger wire than standard 19 gauge. 16 gauge gives you that extra level of security and peace of mind.
Choose ¾" x ¾" as standard or tick the upgrade box on this page to select our maximum specification — 16 gauge ½" x ½" — combining the heaviest wire with the tightest mesh opening available.
Optional Draught Boards
Draught boards are integrated into the structure as standard. If you would prefer these supplied as separate long boards, please email enquiries@vysearks.com with your order number and we will be happy to accommodate your request.
Optional Anti-Predator Grass Skirt — 16 Gauge, 1" x 1" Mesh
Protect your enclosure from digging predators with our heavy-duty anti-predator grass skirt. Manufactured from durable 16 gauge welded mesh with a 1" x 1" mesh aperture, designed to create an effective barrier to prevent foxes, cats and other animals from digging beneath your enclosure. Supplied with galvanised ground pegs for a neat and reliable installation.

Construction & Materials
Welded Mesh
Made from Italian galvanised 16 gauge ¾" x ¾" welded steel mesh throughout — upgrade to ½" x ½" via the checkbox on this page for our maximum specification. Also available in 19 gauge ½" x ½" — see our standard range. Please note we never use chicken wire — foxes can chew through it. Our heavy duty mesh keeps predators out and prevents small wild birds from entering.
Sturdy Timber Frame
Our aviaries and enclosures are built from higher grade FSC-approved, sustainably sourced pressure-treated Scandinavian redwood timber — chosen specifically for longevity and long-term structural integrity. Panels are built from 58mm x 38mm timber, milled to a smooth finish (milled size approx. 44mm x 34mm).
Higher grade timber means fewer knots and weak points throughout the structure — resulting in a more structurally sound build that will stand up to years of outdoor use. Being pressure treated, your structure arrives ready to use — no initial treatment is required. When you do choose to paint or treat it to your own preference, the smooth milled finish makes this straightforward and even — far easier than rough sawn timber which absorbs treatments unevenly and can leave a poor finish.
We never use rough sawn timber. Every piece is milled to a consistent, smooth finish — cleaner, more structurally sound and better looking than cheaper alternatives.
Approximate Dimensions
Panel height: approx. 1,787mm / 5ft 10in
| Size | Width | Length |
|---|---|---|
| 3ft x 6ft | 900mm | 1,800mm |
Please note: due to the natural expansion and contraction of timber and variations in milling, all dimensions are approximate. Please note the image shows a 15ft x 6ft enclosure. Chicken house and base not included.
Need a custom size or design?
Our bespoke service means we can build to any size, any configuration and any specification — and every single bespoke build is designed and built here at our own workshop in Hampshire. At Vyse Arks your bespoke build is handled entirely by our own team from initial design through to final build. The product itself is costed in exactly the same way as our standard range — based on build time and materials — so you are not paying a premium simply because something is made to measure. There is a small additional charge to cover the CAD design, bespoke layout plan and custom assembly instructions produced specifically for your build. Contact us at enquiries@vysearks.com or visit vysearks.com/pages/bespoke-service to find out more.
