At Vyse Arks, every product we make is built by hand at our workshop in the heart of Hampshire. Our bespoke service takes that one step further — giving you the freedom to design exactly the right housing for your animals, your space and your lifestyle, with no compromise on quality.

Our bespoke service is for anyone who knows what they want and wants it built properly — first time keepers, experienced smallholders, estate managers and everyone in between. And if you're not quite sure what you need, don't worry — that's what we're here for! You may even find one our stock products could suit your requirements.

Our bespoke service lets you:

What does bespoke cost?

This is the question we get asked most — and the answer often surprises people. Our bespoke builds are costed in exactly the same way as our standard products, based on build time and materials. You are not paying a premium simply because something is made to measure.

There is a small design fee which covers the creation of a comprehensive structural CAD design prior to the build, along with bespoke assembly instructions produced specifically for your order. This ensures everything is designed, drawn and checked before a single piece of timber is cut — giving you complete confidence in the finished product.

All our bespoke builds use the same premium materials as our standard range:

  • FSC-approved, sustainably sourced Scandinavian pressure-treated timber throughout
  • Italian galvanised wire mesh — available in a wide range of specifications
  • Onduline corrugated bitumen roofing — carrying a 15-year manufacturer guarantee
  • All fixings galvanised as standard

When designing a custom poultry house, it is essential to consider ventilation, insulation, and space allocation. Proper ventilation is critical in preventing respiratory issues, which are common in confined spaces.

Furthermore, the integration of features such as nesting boxes, roosting bars, and secure doors enhances the functionality of the housing. Nesting boxes should be designed to accommodate the natural behaviours of the birds, providing them with a safe and comfortable space to lay eggs. Bespoke FAQ's

Common questions

Can you connect a run to my existing house or shed?

Yes — we can produce a transition piece to connect a Vyse Arks run to almost any existing structure. We will need clear photographs from multiple angles before quoting. Please note that with some plastic housing a direct connection may not be possible — in these cases we can create a bespoke unit designed for the house to sit inside, with lift-out panels and doors for easy cleaning access.

What mesh do you use for rabbit enclosures?

All our rabbit enclosures are built using 16 gauge ½" x ½" Italian galvanised wire mesh as standard — the recommended specification for rabbit housing - giving your rabbits a safe, secure environment and preventing escape.

Is everything designed and built by your own team?

Yes — always. Every single bespoke build is designed and built here at our own workshop in Hampshire. We never outsource. Your build is handled entirely by our own skilled craftsmen from initial design through to final build.

How long does a bespoke order take?

Lead times are seasonal and vary throughout the year — approximately 10 - 30 working days from design approval, but on some occasions it can take up to to 40 days in peak season.

Is bespoke more expensive?

The product itself is costed the same way as our standard range — based on build time and materials. There is a small additional charge for the CAD design and bespoke documentation. We are always upfront about costs before you commit to anything.
